  • I had the pleasure of my stomach hitting bottom when I returned to the office to find it locked down by the SWAT team. An employee decided he did not like the manager who was going to terminate him. Brought a gun to the office to discuss the issue…
  • It's Arizona. It will not rain there until about July 15th. There is a rule about no rain between April 30th and the start of the monsoon season.

  • The basic problem with the elections is the choices we are given are politicians not leaders. Define the qualities you look for in a leader (intelligence, integrity, honesty, common sense, etc.) then compare them to what you get with a politician. …
  • I understand what you mean, HRBanker. I named my ski boat "Hydro-Therapy". It keeps you sane. The only problem is I moved to Idaho, very short boating season.

  • I have to admit I have 12 pairs of shoes/boots. BUT …. Only 3 of the 12 are for general-purpose use. The other 9 all have a special use intended (i.e. river shoes, snow pacs, hunting, hiking, Steel toe work boots, racket ball, etc.)

  • Here is an idea. If you work for a large company with multiple sites and need to have a yearly HR meeting. It is cheaper to have the meeting on a cruise ship. Think about it, by the time you fly everyone in, get hotel rooms, rental cars, and meal…
  • Dirt clod fights were great. Just so long as the losers did not start using rocks.
  • That bill will be for armed, illegal, blind, tractor operators. x;-)
  • The productivity of the meeting is important. Years ago I work for an HR manager who had regularly scheduled staff meetings that lasted 3 to 4 hours. The information covered in these marathon meetings could have been covered in an hour.
  • Raisning teenagers is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree
  • Work ethic is the biggest thing in hiring entry-level employees. I have had more problems getting employees new to the work force, to actually show up and work. The technical aspects of a job are much easier to teach then to instill a good work et…
  • My sisters and I have been planning a cruise for our parent’s 50th anniversary. If you book 8 or more cabins the rates drop significantly. (it was a balmy 11 degrees here this morning)
  • First off CONGRADULATIONS! on the offer. Sounds like a great offer. Everyone here has given you good advice. Just remember it is OK not to take a position if it is not right for you. (Although moving to a city ten times smaller would be a big pl…
  • Shopping??.... Never... I went and hid in the hills. Chased elk all day, never got close to a store.
  • That is great. I'll have to try that with my sisters.
  • Reply to "kiddo" with "sure thing gramps" that should get their attention
  • The difference between genius and stupidity is genius has limits
  • When I got up this morning I took two Ex-Lax in addition to my Prozac. I can't get off the john, but I feel good about it.

  • In this situation, we have always counted the entire last shift of the week. So in your situation, the employees start at 7:00 Saturday night, the time would be counted on the week the shift started.

  • A previous company I worked for did that exact thing. Not a Problem.
  • Overtime is calculated on a work week, which you have already defined. Anything over 40 hours in a week is paid at time and a half. It makes no difference what pay period your company uses or when paychecks are issued.
