Unfortunately, our budget also does not allow for any more newsletter subscriptions, so I'll have to bid farewelll. It's a shame b/c I've learned so much from this forum. However, there are still a few free HR forums out there, just not as good as…

No Detroiters on this board? Most of Southeast Michigan was without power as well. Went out right before rush hour on Thursday. Most didn't get it back till late Friday, early Saturday. It wasn't terrible except for all the crazies that went buyi…

They are salaried exempts. There seems to be a lack of knowledge of what constitutes a salaried employee. My understanding and how I've personally been treated in past positions is that you are paid to do a job, no matter if it takes 50 hrs or …

We have the opposite problem. Salaried employees consistently working 50-60 hrs one week, and 39 the next and our payroll wanting them to put in an hour of vacation time. I think we are serioulsy risking their exempt status, but no one wants to tac…

>What if an exempt person has used all of their PTO bank? Can the sick >day be docked as unpaid sick time? How this company works if if a Salaried employee uses up all their PTO time, they take that away from next years bank. If it ha…

I just noticed this same question half way down but it won't let me delete mine. Thanks!

While you can not "dock" an exempt employee's pay, you can dock their vacation/pto bank for anything less then a day. We are having this same debate right now. They want to require exempt employees to take PTO time in 4 hour increments. The deba…

The Quick list says you can make Exempt employee's work specific hours, clock in and out and ask permission before taking time off. I still don't get that if a normal work week is 40 hrs, you work 70hrs but on Wed. you call in sick, that you still …

We have Exempt Employees log their time every two weeks in a system called Maximo. They have to enter their beginning and end time and then if they are charging any of that time against Projects and such. We have to put a code of what we did for e…
