I can't get in either.

I don't want to appear naive, but a no-match letter isn't grounds for termination. You need to notify them to clear up any discrepancy with the SS Administration. What steps did you take to determine that they were illegal???

Que bueno! Yo entiendo y muchas gracias. Yo buscando en la universidad local.

I did not realize HIPAA had to be posted but rather handed out to each person who receives benefits.

Thanks - great advice. I know it's not acceptable, but after re-reading an overview of FLSA, I don't see anything specifically illegal. What am I missing??

Thank you! Your humor helps!! That is my sense too, but she has contacted the DOL and is playing hardball. Hopefully, we will hear back from our attorney today. We want to do the right thing, but at the same time, not succumb to blackmail. She …

Thanks to all! Great input. I appreciate it!

Great advice, everyone. We do include permission to do checks on our application, but I think I like the idea of getting the DL# upfront.

Thank you. I guess we aren't always sure when we hire - until we need someone on the spot - that they will be driving for us. Do you tell everyone they might be driving at time of hire and have them fill out this form, just in case?? or does this…

Yes, these mistakes sound familiar. About a year ago I devised a system to prevent me from making these errors. I've made 3 spreadsheets; one for new hires, one for 90 days (benefits eligibility), and one for terminations. I have them printed an…

Many thanks for your good advice. This is what I feared, but thought I would check with the Forum. I heard this week that Microsoft is coming out with a machine that would instantly translate numerous languages - particularly helpful in Emergency R…

I agree with an assortment of the previous responses. I support a week of spending time in each department - rolling up your sleeves, getting dirty, understanding and respecting EVERY job in the company. Building mutual respect among all employees…

Any ideas on trying to find out who's doing it??

Thanks for your input. I can usually see these issues in black & white. This one seemed grey to me, and that's why I went to the Forum. You are all helping me to see things more clearly. I wouldn't say she's a "bad" employee, or she would ha…

You are absolutely right, and I said the same thing to him this morning. He knows better, and I explained that it makes the whole issue more difficult without documentation of their discussions. This employee is currently the only woman in our en…

It is probably my writing, rather than our policies, that led you to believe that we have a sexist attitude. I am a woman and I would never tolerate it in our managers. So sorry. This employee would have the same manager in any area of production.…

Could you tell me what other things should NOT be in a personnel file? Your answer peaked my interest. I know about I-9's and any medical reports; are there other things I don't know about? What about notes on behavioral problems, manager's notes…

I have found that with a little digging you can get all the required posters (state and federal) on the internet at no cost - you just have to print them yourself. They even meet the font requirements. I recently ordered new laminated posters to be…

Thank you all so much for your responses. You have confirmed my gut feeling.

You could list things, but add that the list is "not all-inclusive." It's the best of both worlds. The problem is interpretation; what IS a weapon??? We didn't used to think of boxcutters and plastic forks as weapons.....

All very interesting. My thought is this: what kind of a reward is it to be given something that's going to cost you and your family a substantial amount of money that you probably haven't planned for??? I'd vote (instead of the cruise which is a …
