I pulled off a nice "Donate your status" day last week. I asked my FB contacts who have worked here or work here currently to write something positive about our organization and link to our website. I wasnt sure if anyone would do it but I was pleasantly suprised by more than fifty people writing really great comments about their experiences here.
Fifty people x 200-400 Facebook friends = alot of free positive publicity
Plus it was just fun to read how our organization has been a significant part of people's lives.
On the flip side, the Pope has warned against excessive Facebook use.
Interesting article, Paul. It is the kind of thing you hear from all kinds of authorities any more, not just religious.
BTW, I don't really recognize the people who are fans of HR Hero and post here, unless maybe I saw Accu Frank. Did anyone recognize me? I figured I would get some friend requests and be able to share and look at pictures. I have one on my page of me in baby Nirvana taken October 1st. I know at least Joannie would like to see it.
Many of them are from Canada and I expect that is because we have links to our Northern Exposure e-zine and blog on the page. It's an e-zine about Canadian employment law for U.S. companies.
As for using Facebook and other social media, I reviewed a book about social media for our Resources for Humans blog and I would recommend it for helping you get your arms around how think about using it. I think figuring out ways to use social networking can be a lot of trial and error in the beginning, but the nice thing is you can do those experiments without it costing anything.
Funny! Believe it or not, I am back on Twitter. Ive read up on it and I think I finally "get" how it could be useful. We'll see. Im giving it six months. If its not producing real results then I will probably quit. Again.
I'm so glad you are feeling guilty about voting me (in absentia) to take care of Paul and have decided to help me. Some jobs just need additional support.
Honey, I believe we would need an entire army to keep him straight. The two of us cannot handle this on our own. Anyone else willing to help 'beat him down'? Um, I mean, keep him in line?
Sorry for the voting mishap - it was between you and Frank and Paul voted for you...
The Twitter link was cute. I can't imagine what would be fun about having people telling me all day every little thing they were doing. How would I get anything done myself?
Joannie: It didn't really require a vote to put you in charge of handling PICB. You just do it naturally. Fortunately, it looks like we have KSR ready and willing to step in as back up when necessary.

I think they are adorable, but I am prejudiced. The picture I posted was taken the day they were born (9/30). They are just shy of 6 mos now. They grow up so quickly!

(You probably won't hear me say that often.)
If he's that concerned about Facebook, he'd be horrified at the Forum!

Perhaps we have just all been too quiet lately.
Nae

We wouldn't have voted for you otherwise...
