The HR HERO group on Facebook has really grown but its kind of hard to tell who is who. Are any of on it? Its time to come clean and fess up.

I am guessing that "Tony Kessler" on HR HERO is probably "Tony Kessler" on Facebook. I know who Frank and HRQ are but I won't "out" them without their permission. Then again, you could probably figure out who Frank is. (Hint: look for someone named "Frank")

It can be alot of fun - connecting with people you haven't seen in years. It can also be quite distracting. I have friends who are on there all the time...

Did you join Facebook recently?

Yep. I joined myspace and facebook in December, and have been slowly adding a bit here and there. Most of my family is on myspace so I have worked on that page the most. I think I understand MS the most, but I did get some fun this morning while I was on FB. One of my grandsons IM'd me while I was signing up for hrhero. That was a first for me.

I closed my Myspace account about a year ago. It was too much work to keep two accounts going and Myspace was growing increasingly sleazy.

Facebook has worked extremely well as a communication tool with my staff. As my high school friends started joining FB, I ended up creating my own personal account.

I tried Twitter. I really did. But I give up. Im glad it works for Frank. But I found it ridiculous and unnecessary.

I actually have a facebook account but I didn't realize that there was an HR hero presence. I use Linked In a lot of my payroll people are on it.

I have a token presence on LinkedIn, primarily because a few of my former cohorts were having job difficulties and needed recommendations. It's an interesting system.

I just had a 90 minute conversation with our director about creating a Facebook presence for our organization. He is fascinated by the phenomenon and sees potential here for us to connect in a more active way with our guests.

I attended a disaster of a webinar Tuesday. It was supposed to be about how to leverage social networking and social media, internally and externally, for marketing and HR purposes. Instead, we were treated to a slideshow of all the neat things the presenter had done with a dedicated social networking staff of 3 and a budget of about a half million dollars. It will take me the rest of the year to re-convince my CEO that it is something you can do inexpensively, because this "expert" cautioned that you shouldn't even look at it unless you're ready to pour a lot of resources into it.
