As some of you have noticed I have not been posting much lately. For the past few months I have been in negotiations with two partners and whatever investment capital we could find to begin a new business venture this spring.
Our idea is to combine two of my favorite hobbies, golf and fishing, into one activity. We have reached tentative agreements with 8 golf courses in the Pacific Northwest to stock their ponds and lakes with trout and other native fish.
The idea would be a golf/fishing experience. Golf a few holes and then stop to fish for awhile. Eventually we plan to build three of our own courses that will be specifically designed for the golf/fishing enthusiast with courses laid out so that injuries from errant shots will be minimized.
Our website is going to be up soon: www.puttandcast.com I hope you will check it out.
I've enjoyed human resources as a career and its been awesome getting to know all of you but I will be leaving the forum for good in mid April to focus on getting our first three courses set up.
Best wishes to all of you!

Our first course will be Banks Oregon. There are two natural ponds that will be easily stocked with bluegill and possibly catfish. The owners of the course are excited about the possibility of boosting their off season and foul weather revenue.
Are any of you familiar with liability law? I may need an attorney to draft a few waivers.
But we will have novelty golf clubs/fishing rods for sale on our website and select pro shops.

The scenario they laid out was "what if someone is taking a break from golfing to fish for a while and they hook a big one? While they are reeling it in, they may be so excited that they dont hear the group of golfers behind them yelling fore! Just as the fish is being landed, the golfer gets hit on the head and is seriously hurt or even killed."
Personally, I think that is an extremely remote possibility. Besides, what a way to go! How many guys would LOVE to kick the bucket while fishing on a golf course.
Regardless, it appears that I will be returning to HR.
If you know of anyone who is interested in several hundred t-shirts with the logo "puttandcast.com" and "It takes balls to fish on a golf course!" please let me know. All reasonable offers will be considered. (I have sizes small through XL).
Kinda disappointing.
"Soap yeah!" wasn't what I had planned for my 3,000th post. It was going to be awesome. Something memorable, moving, and maybe even inspirational.
I'll have to wait until 4,000 now.
Every good southerner knows that "Ya'll" is singular. "All Ya'll" is plural.
