Incredible. Camping with 600 men, talking about man stuff and male bonding. Let's not forget the fish fry too. Hmmmmmm, I did not know you were a boy scout.
I learned that Capitalism is a good thing, I started making more money and didn't like paying higher taxes, trying to hire people who would rather continue on welfare rather than work, becoming more committed to pro-life (probably the biggest turning point), and last but certainly not least, the great job Ronald Reagan did as President. Think this'll stir up any debate????
Well, I guess if you want to get technical about it. I am old (50). I am a registered democrat (I live in Southern Oklahoma and if you aren't a registered democrat you don't get to vote in the local elections, 'cause Republicans don't run for local offices). I am against the war, but believe as long as we are in it, we should fully support our troops. I am pro-life. I am pro business. And I believe we as individuals and corporations have a moral obligation to help the poor and disenfranchised; I don't think we should rely on the government.
Joannie: Is it possible you are a long lost sister of mine? I am originally from OK, I am 52, and my views match yours. The only difference is that I am a registered republican who just votes for whomever is best (or least worst). We must be related!
Joannie I believe you are a democrack in name only! And somehow I must be you and Nae's older brother!! I lived for a while in far West Texas (Lubbock area) and those were the most conservative Republican democrats I've ever met!
Jo, my post was directed at A1steaksauce. But since you asked.... x:D
Back when I worked in HR in NJ, the company was located on the Newark border. In interviewing people who did not want to work but wanted a new color TV that their welfare checks would not cover, I met the new breed of voters. I was told that welfare was my American birthright. They found it hilarious that I would trudge to work week in, week out.
I was dealing with the third generation of welfare recipients. "Grandma is on welfare, momma is on welfare and when I turned 14 I had my first baby and got my own welfare check."
I do not believe that I, as an individual or my company, as a corporation has any obligation to help those that refuse to help themselves. I do not call them poor. I call them leeches. Do not get me started on the government.
Oh, Paul is just pouty because we've hijacked his thread more than once. We wouldn't have to hijack it, if he would post something worthwhile for a change. x;-)

Thank you, ritaanz. You, so eloquently, have proven my point. Our welfare system has become too lucrative. The WPA was a good example of helping people help themselves until Congress shut down the program in 1943. BTW, the 78th Congress (1943-1945). Majority Party: Democrat (57 seats). Minority Party: Republican (38 seats). Other Parties: 1 Progressive. Total Seats: 96. Since that time, welfare has become an entitlement and a way of life instead of a temporary helping hand.
Hey Paul, pass me another Mt Dew! Ignore these girls. They're just babbling about stuff and should go back to their knitting and crochet thread. Guess they haven't learned their place yet.
Wow, we were on a scintillating political discussion and somehow took a wide left turn to the left coast brand of justice!!! You know in the midwest we don't have to conceal our "instruments" anymore, but we can if we want! And to answer your question Rita, the young Demo because a older, wiser Republican over 20 years ago.

It doesnt get more manly than that.
Think this'll stir up any debate????
What does that make me, ritaanz?

If someone starts scrapbooking, I will go Alec Baldwin on them.
Unfortunately, this is also one of the most interesting conversations in awhile. So.. carry on. You may have TEMPORARY use of the clubhouse.
You all remember what your mums told ya. Stay outa the bushes. That includes clubhouses too.
