HR Goals

In an upcoming organizational retreat, all department heads are being asked for their 5 year goal, 10 year goal, and 20 year ideas for making our company the best of its kind. Five year is relatively easy, although any new ideas are welcome. My problem is projecting 10 years in the future. I'm considering outsourceing and possibly restructuring the department. Currently I only have the safety/training coordinator and an administrative assistant. Since this is a "dream" plan, I can add more personnel, add software, ask for larger budget, etc. Any ideas?

Find out what operations people are projecting and base your HR plans on that. Are they projecting 30% growth for example. If so, you could base some HR projections on the number of new employees that would mean and what you would have to do to accomplish that.

You have to understand where your business is going (or at least projected to) in those time frames. Then figure out how HR can help the business reach those goals through hiring and retention

Being where you are I believe those would be my goals too. It's great to see a response from you. It's hard to watch the news and see the devestation.

My HR goals are to continually improve communications between the managers and their staff, expand the department as the company grows, and better utilize resources available to us.
