Tanned in Wisconsin!

One of the previous posts inspired my posting title and may be misleading . . . but I have a humorous story about tanning . . .
. . . because of my "other" job, x;), sometimes I feel the need to try some of our new products so I can give a testimonial to my customers.
One of our products is self-tanning cream. I've never attempted to use this before, but thought "what have I got to lose?". Well.
I painstakingly put it on evenly, as the package mentioned, but considering everything in my life is relatively fast-paced, I apparently didn't wait long enough to put on my jeans after applying the product.
It's been about three weeks and finally today it has faded enough so that I can wear shorts again and even short sleeves. For the last three weeks . . . I've been striped. Everywhere. Very humorous at home, but something that I had to keep reminding myself when I went out in public.
My arms looked like I had been beaten up and the rest of me looked like I had taken a quick stumble into a mud puddle.
I'll continue going through life either very WHITE or burnt to a crisp. There is no in-between for me. x:(

I've been tempted to try a self tanner but never have for the very good reason you have shared.
I am jealous that you've been able to wear shorts and short sleeves; its been real cold in Boston but we should jump from 50 to 90 degrees any day now... xpray
I have a partially used bottle of self-tanner if you're interested. Only used once. (Well, I did try to fix my problems by using it a second time, now that I think about it. Not a wise choice.)
Take my advice, skip it. x;)
Mel, can you post the striped photo? And do you have stripes, well, anyway.........
I also remember those beta-carotene tablets that were pushed heavily for a while, turned you a lovely orange, approximately the same shade you'd get if you ate a couple of pounds of carrots a day for a couple of months.

So, since I can't use tanning lotion & I burn too easy to fake 'n bake, I'm destined to live my life lily-white. Oh well, at least I won't be a wrinkled ol' bag when I grow up!!!
I would rather use the bottle than become a tanorexic at the tanning beds and of course the sun is damaging but I have even less time to actually lay out in the sun anyway.
I'm thinking about putting sunblock where I already burned and sitting out in the sun to burn the rest to match!
