It's time to reveal that Steelboy, AKA SMace are one and the same person. Steelboy parachuted in here ragging everybody except one person, who he compliments profusely, SMace. They post behind each other on multiple threads, often almost in conversation with each other. Both are in the same state. My bet's on them being two heads on one body! x:-) Any comments on my take on our new visitor? But Steven, it was a fun ride. x:-)

That would explain the bellicose verbosity exhibited by steelboy. Smace knocks back a couple kikapoo joy juices and BANG! becomes Steelboy, Boy of ... uh... steel?

That might explain why Steelboy always refers to himself in the 3rd person. It's really SMace referring to Steelboy.
I was beginnning to think it was like that Seinfeld episode with Jimmy.

P-Beag I was being a smarta$$ above about the jokes so no worries. I think McMel and HRDallas are taking themselves (and life) waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously in that other thread. It's like TV, if ya don't like it, turn it off or change the channel. It's not like we were discussing something "inappropriate", even by James's standards. x:P

Steelboy blows in, dribbles some defiant verbiage and then slinks away. He claims to work in a Fortune 500 company and professes that his (I figure if the moniker is Steelboy, its gotta be a male) management style is admired and imitated.

Ooooooooommmmmmaaaannnnnn, are we lucky or what? Come on Boy, it's a new week, give us some more of your viewpoints. We're tough, we can take it. As for SMace, if what Don says is true, it is more like Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jeckel.

I'm thrilled that I have created such a stir. I have achieved the desired result and I gladly thank each of you for posting on this thread to verify that fact.

I do work for a Fortune 500 Company...one that has very few layers and is well known for its lack of bureaucracy. So, my unusual posts are not silly banter that are carelessly thrown out without thought. They are rooted in the experiences that I have had. First in a highly centralized, bureaucratic Forune 500 company where I worked as a Plant HR Manager in four of their manufacturing plants and finally in the Division Offices of their largest division. Next stop as VP of HR for a $6 billion international building materials company, which has returned avg 19.5% ROE over the past 7 years...which happens to be an exceptionally decentralized company (65 people in North American hq for $6 billion in revenue) and now sit in my current position, which will remain undisclosed. I've seen the extremes of centralization and decentralization and the accompanying extremes of how HR funtions can be run.

If you don't think there is any ying yang or mumbo jumbo in the HR funtion, then I am sure that you are probably creating lots of it.

Well, I'm going to take SMace at his word that he's not MetalBoy. You never can be 100% sure on a Forum like this. But I hope everyone stops ragging on him.

SteelBoy and AluminumBoy are the same person, but he seems to be a changed man. You don't have to forget his confrontational statements, and you're always welcome to disagree with each other. But please don't make personal attacks or name-calling to him or anyone else.

I'm glad this place is getting lively again.

I don't think you're Smace.

I like a straight shooter, not afraid to ruffle things up & tell it like it is, but I don't care for the words "hr weenies" or "whiners", nothing personal, just not a fan.

I like the words "mumbo jumbo" and "ying yang" because I think it applies a lot of the time, however, sometimes on this site, you've got to use "mumbo jumbo" and "ying yang" as not everyone seeking advice has the same level of experience as others - plus, sometimes we are just educating ourselves as well.

Finally, you've had a rough start on here, so do what any self-respecting professional would do - suck up to the establishment! x;-)
