Ok, Here's a three part question...

1). Are you having any Halloween festivities where you work?


2). If so, are you going in costume?


3). If so, what as?


We usually have a small, lunch time party with a costume contest. Last year I won with a mermaid costume. This year I'm going as an elf (Think Arwen in Lord of the Rings, not Hermie in Rudolph.) That is of course, if I ever finish sewing my costume.

Well, I see that Mutt and Jeff have already chimed in here (at my expense, of course).

We are having a potluck, it is a costume function, and I'm going as Hannibal Lecter (an oldie but a goodie). x;-)

We can not wear costumes that cover or change our face in any way because we have to show our picture ID to get into the building. Which is dumb because as long as they see a company ID, they do not look close enough to see if it is really the same person. My boss suggested scary face day, where none of us wear make up. But I told her that won't work for me, I'd just look 14 years old, not scary. Not to mention my natural beauty. ;;)

We are having some contests during our staff meeting (the day before Halloween).
1. Bring in your free-hand carved pumpkin (three prizes),
2. Guess the number of coffee beans in the jar (keep the jar and beans),
3. A mummy wrap toilet paper contest. Winner gets (?).

No costumes that are over-the-top. Our business is services to children and families (some of them in for some serious counseling issues) and we cannot have issues around frightening the customers.

We don't really do anything here at work, but I wish we would! I posted a question a while back asking for ideas for a costume (for a party at Disney World), and got some interesting stories. My husband and I finally decided to go as Steve and Joe from Blue's Clues -- we each got the appropriate shirt, had a handy-dandy notebook in our pockets, and I carried around a stuffed Blue. Those of you with small children know what I'm talking about! The kids loved it.

We have an employee costume contest, but it is limited because you can't have any masks. We also have a costumer contest, so Halloween is always interesting. You have to search for a badge to find out who's who!

I'm going to a costume party Saturday night, and printed the thread that HRanna started for some ideas. Liked Denzel Washington in Philadelphia - law suit!

I have an HR friend, who brought his dog in on the weekend, and had the dog's picture made wearing his tie. He then put the picture in his name badge and wore it for months before anyone noticed.

I love Halloween, but unfortunately, our party is only for the kiddies this year at work. Last year we did a department contest. We had 5 judges and each department had to come up with a theme. The winners received bagles and coffee for their department. Everyone loved it! My department decided to go as butterflies (I was the only male and the only no on this choice) and no we didn't win but we sure had fun trying.

We have a daycare next to us - so on the 30th & 31st we have a group of preschoolers coming by & collecting candy - it's incredibly cute. We also have a costume contest for our employees and yes, this year I'm going to dress up ..... as Ray/Parabeagle.

You know, Leslie, some day M. Lee Smith Publishers will host a conference for all of us Forumaniacs and we'll all be flown to (wherever the heck they're located). During the evening icebreaker, I'll wear my jacket so everyone can see that it's brown. Okay? x:-)

No one here wears anything for Halloween but I was able to find a black shirt with a red glitter witch on it with the word "wicked" above it. I figure most people will say that it fits for HR!

We have an annual "Harvest Party" for our clients and residents, and the staff always dresses up for it. Since there is a particular director who I am not too fond of, nor is she very fond of me, I have decided to go as the devil, since she already thinks I am THE devil. Everyone in our office thinks it is hilarious...we all hate her, so being a smarta** will be fun.
