After a bad hurricane we actually changed our Exempt/non exempt policy to say something like if a state of emergency is declared, exempt employees may be paid overtime.. . Don't know how that would fly with DOL but. . . . Also have given exempts …

Thanks for your responses.. .that is what we are up against David. . very frustrating, given the guy has never left the county, let alone the country. In addition to his pension, we have also continued to allow his sick and vacation to accrue which…

I am talking about orders going forward. . .5/1/08-4/30/11 I don't doubt the validity of the order. We have just never gotten orders for 3 years in one order before and wondered if anyone else had

I'm back and so is this problem child. . . Have any of you ever received orders for an employee that were for 3 years active duty???

SD.. not sure I get your first paragraph? He will not be eligible for rehire, but really matters not. He is going full time with the Guard at double his wage here. He would not want to come back any more than we would want him back and that is th…

Thanks joannie and he collects a years worth of sick and vacation time and his pension all while having made double his salary and been able to stay state side in his own home. . (sigh) something just aint right!

We pay for the phones. If an ee wants/to use that phone for personal, we deduct 15.00 a month. Works for us.

In a former life, 16 or so of us non profits formed an insurance trust to lower rates as we were all relatively small agencies. My recollection was that it went well for a few years, but then we (one of the larger agencies) got rates lower than the…

We have a very generous policy. Sick leave accrual is unlimited (earn 80 hours per year) and paid in full at seperation. Vacation is capped at 400 hours, also paid at seperation. We are public sector.

We pay 100% for ee but for dependant coverage, the more you make, the more you pay. We contribute 35 45 or 55% based on wage.

Before you can fix it, I'd found out what broke it. Pizza might bridge a "they never do anything fun for us" gap but will unlikely be helpful if the issue is managment "not listening" or " not following through". I would ask the employees. Once y…

Also local government. We pay 100% for ee and 35, 45 or 55 % of dependent coverage depending on pay grade.
-
We still have vacation and sick 1. 100% 2. 80 hours of sick and leave a balance of 40 Must have combined 240 sick and vacation to cash out 3. 2x per year

Our provider cancelled this a.m. Many unhappy employees, but what are you going to do? If ee are in a group that can get shots or otherwise obtain one, we will reimburse.

I agree with Smoll. Only one of our depts. has EAP as part of a CBA. .no one else. Also agree that it is a great investment.

We have larger life insurance amounts for managers. Directors also have a higher multiplier on their retirement and there are some other minor differences. On the other side, the higher pay grades pay a larger portion of their dependant coverage. …

We are similar to Popeye, but we start with 2 weeks and that is it til 5 years. Add one day per year for 5 thru 9. 10 thru 15 is 120 hours. At 16 add another day til 19 years, it then stays at 160 hours annual accrual til you leave. At 400 hour…

Glad it wasn't too terrible!

How did the meeting go?

In my opinion, the best thing to do at this point is go to that meeting armed with facts and try to be prepared for different questions and some unhappiness. Let us know how it goes. If I understand, the new plan would not cost me anything out of …

We pay 100% for the employee. Dependent options: Spouse only Employee & Child(ren) Family All are different copays for the employee. Also, the less you make, the larger portion the employer picks up.

We accrue from day one, but it can not be used until 90 day probation is up. It accrues to equate to 2 weeks per year and there it remains until 5 years at which time there is one additional day per year to a maxium of 4 weeks.

We would use her full time regular ee date. We all know life is not fairx;-)

Thanks for the clarification and I do now understand. I think most refer to this as PTO (no specific designation of sick, vacation or personal) You may not want to call it Flex, just to avoid the confusion. Anyway, we require folks to exhaust all…

Hi Char, welcome to the Forum. I am a bit confused by your plans. Flex time, to me, is the Flexing of time within a pay week. .it is not charged off to leave. If I work 9 hours on Monday, I can leave an hour early on Tuesday and not be "penalized…

We do not currently cap sick but are seriously thinking about it .the auditors hate it. We did cap vacation at 400 hours, which is a lot. One of the reasons we allowed such large accurals was that we had no STD and the waitng period of LTD was 6 m…
