  • Happy New Year! I do have Friday off so I'm looking forward to another long weekend, probably my last chance to take one for a while. We're going through major changes and time off is not in the plan for the next few months. Have a safe day everyon…
  • You just gave me the laugh I so desperately needed today...thanks.

  • I crochet so I bought plastic crochet hooks just for the next occasion I have to fly. I prefer the metal but figure they may be percieved as a weapon of some sort and then I'd be left on the plane (a complete nervous wreck) with nothing to do.

  • The coolest gift I got was not from my (ex)SO but from his mother - it is a Swiss Army Card - the size of a credit card, just a little thicker, and it holds scissors, a pick/leather poker thing, tweezers, screw driver and nail file. Of course they a…

  • I actually did work today, I just now got a minute to relax and its time to go home, my company gives us a 1/2 day today...so now I am packing up and going home to prepare the Christmas Eve feast.
  • Beautiful boys! Thanks for sharing.
  • I am glad you are recovering well. I am not worried about having a scar ( I can always get another tattoo!) but I am terrified of being under anesthesia. I have endometriosis - thats a whole different world of pain- and my fear of anesthesia is why …
  • HRQ, I feel your pain! I ended up in the ER about 3 weeks ago with pain so bad I thought (hoped at one point) I'd die. Turns out my gall baldder was to blame but there are no stones, it did not empty completely or some such nonsense. But my god, I c…
  • When we lived in an apartment after my parent's divorce, my brother and I asked how Santa would get in. We had one of those old gas on gas stoves with the big gas pipe in the back. Without skipping a beat, my mother said "through the stove" and poin…
  • After the day I had a cruise is just what I need. February is generally the most miserable month in Boston, its the shortest but also the coldest, grayest, and all around most gloomy. But I do like the 7 month lead time for a July cruise, it will gi…
  • I would hope that everyone can see, especially if they spend time in Hr-de-har-har, that no one here means any harm and that the beauty of the forum is that we all see things from a different perspective and have different opinions based upon that p…
  • Ok, I just read the thread you referenced. I am one of those people who restrains my language on the forum since half of what normally comes out of my mouth can't be said on network television. That also makes it real hard to offend me, so maybe tha…
  • Uh, I'm 34 and you have just described my every day life...

  • Bovine-Americans. That's hilarious.
  • I fondly rememebr the lean year my mohther, brother and I made our angel to top the tree by cutting the angel from a waffle box and covering in tin foil. We had a flood in the basement the year before and lost all our decorations.
  • My rule (obsessive compulsive dementia) applies to those gifts that are going to be placed under my tree to be handed out to others. Like when my brother's fiancee came over with her gifts for my family, I said "Oh, here, I have extra paper for you"…
  • I'll tell you about compulsive with the Christmas tree...one year, my dear brother, with the best of intentions, came home with new lights. We were sharing an apartment at the time. He knew I was broke and wanted to surprise me with a tree and decor…
  • How 'bout that, we would have been neighbors. I work on High St and live in the North End. So yes, I walk to work, its great xB-) . The area is beautiful around this time of year, everything is lit up and people are walking around everywhere shoppi…
  • Thanks mdm...I guess I'm just feeling a little sorry for myself this year. The place I used to get my tree closed because of all the Big Dig construction in Boston (I'm sure you know what that is) so I'm going to try Faneuil Hall, they have a tree p…
  • You're probably right, this is the first year I have not put one up, and I do kind of miss it. Maybe I'll be able to find a little tiny Charlie Brown tree.
  • AAGGHH!!! x:'( Icicles!!! My mother used to make my brother and me hang them so that 1/4 of the icicle was ever so carefully draped over the branch. And we could use 2-3 together at most. She was also very particular about which ornaments were hung …
  • Abby, I hope that feeling goes away, how terrible that one person ruined the whole season for you. I know how it feels when some jerk comes along and makes you lose faith in the human race but I hope you can see past it and enjoy the holiday once ag…
  • Wow! Our holiday parties are nothing like that! We have one at work, everyone tries not to say "Christmas" and we do a gift swap. I'm looking to change jobs so I see this as an opportunity to do some serious schmoozing. Friday is usually dress down …
  • Greedy people everywhere, huh? Nothing surprises me anymore.

  • # 2 is good news, my love life is soon to blossom (its the desert now) but #3 tells me its doomed to be short lived. Oh well.
  • Those a re hilarious. I have a close friend who is the quintessential pessimist; she would love this stuff!
  • Cute name, I like it. 100 dollars, huh? Not a bad deal. I know I could use an extra hundred right about now.
  • We got another few inches yesterday that turned to slush when it warmed up and started to rain. That was, of course, after it had turned to ice and I was pelted in the face with a horizontal ice storm...thats just another day in New England-snow, ic…

  • That would have caused a local day of mourning in the neighborhood where I grew up.
