• We initially started by subscribing to WELCOA's website (Wellness Councils of America). However, both the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association have information about wellness committees and starting them. If I can be of furth…
• Regarding your wellness program. The American Cancer society has great tools for helping you set up a wellness program at your company. I'd call the local office, or nearest office or look on the American Society's website. Good luck!
• We pay supervisors & directors $50.00 month toward their cell phone. Staff employees who need a cell phone for work, are reimbursed at $40.00 per month. Everyone has their own cell phone and contract, we just reimburse by this method. If some…
• One of the best learning/teaching documents I have found about HSA is at the website of the folks we contract with to administer our HSA, Wells Fargo. You might try going to their website at www.wfhbs.com and reading their information to…

• Personally, if the doctor (who works for you!) signs off on her need for this FMLA - whether or not he works for your practice, I would absolutely just allow it. Telling her that she needs to work while he's in with the physician or waiting for the…
• Depends on what the doctor says. If the employee is having ongoing treatment, you are probably looking at intermittent leave.
• Thanks so much for all the responses. FMLA even for we employers who think the law was/is a good idea seems to disintegrate into a full-time nightmare.
• Thanks. I needed reminding about the ADA portion. The other occurrences, the part under our attendance, run the gamut from car trouble to weather, etc., and have nothing whatsoever to do with the diagnosis this employee has for FMLA.
• i have and I just go to dol.gov and you can get posters and lots of information.

• On this same topic or rather confidentiality of someone bringing an issue. I had a supervisor bring an issue to me after she had lunch with some outside the company inviduals. Her concern was that she does not want her name associated with the inf…

• Try the Homeland Security website as well as your state government. They have great resources. We're actually working on one and that's where I've found some good information! Carole
• Glad to see you here! We have a very simplistic bonus plan: 1) If the company does not make a profit no one including our CEO can expect any type of bonus. 2) We have a set amount for each of these categories: Officers, Directors, Supervisors, E…
• I was so glad to hear others echo my thoughts about SHRM. I was courious if you'd share what you plan for your strategic hours? I too have to renew by June 07. Thanks, Carole
• Would you by chance be willing to share a copy of your "go to manual" for managers? I've been struggling to create a viable one and would be most appreciate of the assistance. You could email me at carole.owen@bgfh.com if you wish. …
• I agree that employees shouldn't be rewarded for doing the job for which we provide a paycheck - isn't that what we agreed to at the time of hire? Bonuses, rewards, etc., should be for "above and beyond" and not often given as most employees, inclu…
• Well said, and thanks. Personally, I enjoy the interaction and haven't ever been offended by anthing I've read. It's not directed at me. And sometimes the byplay leads to more knowledge!
• Thank you so much for your answer and for the encouragement. Having worked with our employees since '97, or at least many of them, my heart hurts to be facing this. Well even if I didn't know them, my heart would hurt. When I've had to assist in …
