There have been 8 categories of people designated in this area who will be able to get the vaccine; others have to do without. The categories include babies up to 23 months, asthmatics, pregnant women, elderly people, etc. I've never received the …

For us, the Eve's will be taken on Friday and we are also getting off each of the Mondays for the Christmas Day and New Year's Day holiday. A four-day weekend.

We have a $60 one-time fee.

We were increasing premiums roughly 13% every six months for the last year and a half. As of March 1st we've changed plans, which was a nightmare, but it should be well worth it. Premiums are now locked for a year, whew!

Just as an update for all, between the policy and the communication with the Worker's Comp office, they have decided to retract some of the WC wages that were sent to the employee, because he was not showing the effort to get back to work. The empl…

This note in our handbook was specific enough to save us when an employee extended his injury by drywalling at a friend's house . . . the DOCTOR determined the injury was aggravated by the ee's outside work, and the worker's comp company fought it t…

I'm not claiming that the safety manuals are typed perfectly, but it gives them something to do. We also only pay minimum wage and let WC pick up the difference. It keeps our WC costs lower, and encourages the ee to get better faster, because they…

In my short history here, we've done the following: Put the employee on a typewriter and have them fill in all of the company information on blank copies of I-9s. Keep making copies of the forms and let them keep typing the info in. Typing one ha…

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your post. It's probably due to how I'm reading it and it's late in the afternoon; are you referring to the fact that they were legitimate injuries, not legit? Just looking for clarification.

As some of the above posters, we also pay minimum wage when an employee is on light-duty. In past experiences, we've felt that the employee then works a little harder at "healing". Some of you may bash me for that comment, but I am no longer surpr…

The owner's goal is to make the company stronger. He hasn't pointed the finger at sis and mom; they are just a glaring problem within this company. At Christmas time, mom tells owner that sister should get her bonus. Then sister approaches owner …

Last time I used a floppy disk, files don't just open themselves up. You generally have to double click on them to get them to open. Even if she was "borrowing" a stray diskette to copy a file to, there was no reason to open any files on there tha…

Paid holiday for us too!

Elle, Regarding babysitting your management, I'm not sure about your company, but I'll elaborate some about mine. I'm the first HR person this company has ever had, so my job was to develop some structure and get policies / procedures / job descri…

Everybody is due for a review every six months, determined by their hire date. So, there are reviews being done each month, depending on an employees hire date. Spreads the joy throughout the year.

Here's what I've done to balance out that same problem at my company, a place that had no structure whatsoever. On things that can be scheduled, like performance appraisals, raises, etc., I have reminders pop up on MY computer through Microsoft Out…

Your adjudicator's name didn't start with D, did it? x;) I've run into some real issues with the unemployment office also; anybody with common sense wouldn't think these ees would qualify with some of the instances I've experienced. Very frustrat…

I think "talking to" this guy because of his mannerisms would be out of line. What if somebody talked to you because you walked too fast, talked too loud, ate too fast. Where do you draw the line? Somebody on this thread pointed out that if he's …

As much as I've used the Forum and loved it, I'm also sad to say (and a little embarrassed) that I'm not a subscriber. I suddenly feel bad that I stuck my nose in. Sorry to have eavesdropped in an arena where I didn't belong. Even though I'm leav…

Surely. The shift is 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. 10 minute break at 9:30 20 minute break at 12:30. (lunch) Both are paid. If they feel the need to leave the building for whatever reason, they are required to punch out, then they would only be paid for 7.75 …

We work 8 hour shifts - two paid breaks - a ten minute and a 20 minute.

Crout, you sound like a nice young man who obeys his wife quite well. She must be so proud.

DJ, I'm guessing it's his motorcycle. He got you on that one.

Holy cow! Since my lower left leg is mostly metal, (I like to say "bionic") I haven't been on my bicycle in four years. Just getting it off the hooks in the garage would make me huff and puff. What an inspiration you are!

Are there any male hairdressers working there? If so, does the boss yell at them for not wearing makeup? If not, I hear discrimination. Hey, I'm trying to help.

We are also closed on Good Friday, it's one of our 11 scheduled holidays. (Our second shift, which generally works 10 hours days Monday through Thursday, is scheduled off for Thursday to recognize their Good Friday holiday). What a nightmare.
