These are great. I am laughing so hard. What a great pick me up for a Friday. "I know God only gives us what we can handle, but I wish he didn't trust me so much." Sister Therese

People never cease to amaze me on a daily basis. My mom tells me I am to young to be cynical, but if she did this job for a day, I think that would change. Oh, I am meeting with the lady from the placement agency who sent that cover letter, for her …

Wow! What people won't do. I have had the new resume situation from someone who had an interview scheduled. We went ahead and conducted the interview out of professional courtesy, but just let the person leave and sent them a No Thank you letter. We…

My point exactly about honesty not always being the best philosophy. x:D
-
Ah no. I just told her to feel free and call back to reschedule because I knew she never would and of course, she did not. That leads me to an even better topic, the best and worst lines you have had for people being late or not showing up. I think …

When I said honest, that was somewhat tongue in cheek. I meant about sharing all that personal information. Resumes, cover letters and interviews should be strictly job related. I don't need to know that your grannie Lulu had kidney stones and you h…

Yep. I am not sure what the agency was, it wasn't a recruitment agency. It is like an agency that places people who have a hard time getting work for whatever reason. All I know is that I have never seen anything like it. I called the lady who broug…

Interestingly enough, this came from some type of agency that tries to help people get jobs. The lady brought in a whole stack. The rest were "normal" so to speak. Whoever said "honesty is the best policy" did not work in HR!! I love that bank emai…

I will say it again. ACS Data Search is the best we have had. We had them run a couple checks and our old company, Clarence Kelley run the same checks and ACS got hits that Clarence Kelley missed. If we would have stayed with them we would have had …

We have a great policy, I think anyway. We get 9 paid holidays effective your first day of employment, 2 weeks vacation after the first year, 3 weeks at 5 years, etc. For sick time, we get 5 days at 6 months and another 5 at a year, plus 5 more on y…

Ok, I have been avoiding this thread for days and I finally gave in to see this???? Great job. We do criminal background, federal and state. We have 301 employees. We use ACS Data Search and we have been very pleased with them. We used to us Claren…

We are a large company and have been dealing with this off and on. If it is just non-hurtful, can it ever be?, gossip, we send out a memo which works for quite a while. If it is hurtful or can be construed as hostile/harassment, we confront the pers…

I feel so lucky we have great "techies" here. Our virus scan has popped out every one of these for me which I am getting at a rate of about 3-4 a minute.

Another great source is the American Red Cross. Visit www.redcross.org for more info.

Our sales people use their own vehicles and we reimburse mileage. I agree with balloon, you can say you won't but it will go over like a "lead-balloon."

>Try this link. It will do it for you. > >http://hrtools.com/etoolsapplets/turnovercalc/TurnoverCalc.asp Great Website! Thanks

Here is a "disclaimer" so to speak that we have in our handbook regarding internet, e-mail and phone usage. Good luck. We have software and systems in place that can monitor and record all Internet, e-mail, phone and remote access usage. We want yo…

I am with everyone else on the Board of Health suggestion. That is an intolerable situation.

We used to do this every Friday in a law office I worked in. You were limited to two alcoholic drinks, but you had to stay for an hour after your second one. We never had any problems with it. Good luck!!
-
We always have them sign a handbook receipt. That way there is no confusion about "well I didn't know that" etc. Good luck.

Job fairs, Chamber of Commerce websites are good because of people relocating. Well, that ran me out of ideas. What about a job fair on site? We have done that a few times in the past and it works great.
-
I agree with all the other posts. We would send flowers as a company and just notify the supervisor they will be out.
-
We only do criminal background, no credit background. I don't think a persons credit history will tell you anything about how they can do a job etc.
-
xclap Good answer! We have been in business for over 25 years and have never done credit checks. We have a very low turnover rate, as some of you know I have only had one position open. We have never had any kind of financial issue with anyone in …

We just keep it simple. We do not allow early pick up for any reason other then holidays. For example, Friday we are closed, so we will hand them out Thursday, but no earlier.
-
I am probably wrong and will get hammered by some of the more um, mature, forumites, but I say, if you can't safely train someone to do a job, then you have no legal responsibility to interview and/or hire them. Let's see if we can get some of the a…

Whenever we are really interested in someone, we bring an interpreter in, whether it be language or other. I don't know that you HAVE too, but if you are passing a good person up because of it, why wouldn't you? On the flip side, how will this situa…

Here is a copy of our dress code. We are an international corporation and have a very casual atmosphere as well. We do allow nice capri's as long as they are not blue jean ones. You may dress in “business” or “nice casual” attire while working. Cl…

I can't imagine how you would be able to do that and collect. You could put the wording in there all day long, but would your company really pursue legal action if they had too? x:-/ It seems like that would be more trouble then the money you los…

I would not want to run it on some people and not others. You need to be consistent with all employees. We used to use Clarence Kelly as well and had a couple problems with them missing some pretty big offenses. We have switched to ACS Data Search…
