I vote yes. (But then again I was always told by mother about the starving children in Eastern Europe--although, as far as I know my mother never sent leftovers over there).

I have a really weird picture of eating a MRE and following proper etiquette at the same time.

Actually, speaking as a Yankee, I just love going to crab houses and eating with my fingers food served on paper. The tables are usually covered with newspaper.

The real problem comes when you are interviewing someone whose culture believes that belching is a sign of approval.

Don, if I was working for Hooters, I wouldn't handle anything. If I was working for Chippendales, as a responsible individual, I would handle the interviews. :DD

Our policies re: benefits start the count from the date of hire. I don't recall ever seeing a plan that's starts the countdown from when the probationary period is over.

He lost his LAST job because of "legal jobs". There is nothing irrelevant about finding out what happened and I wouldn't care if he was sorry, fully recognized the error of his ways or whatever excuse. There is no way to judge if something is irre…

Changing the topic slightly. If you are concerned about going back more than 7 years, why did the person who is doing the background check go back 8 years. What are your instructions to this person?

Why are you accepting the shipping manager's answer? Trucks that park in our bays are required to turn off their engines. It has not been problem.

I agree he should be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. I don't believe terminating someone for "embarrassing" a city is the way to go. At the very least, he threatened someone. He lied on a police report. He may very well have …

Is that $11.57 per hour (as in New York) or month (as in China)?

E Wart I noticed your response #14 to your response #13. I might or might not agree with you except that I didn't quite understand what you were trying to say in #13. Could you please elucidate? 8-}

If I don't have a signed release, I don't answer any questions.

I don't. It is an opinion and not a fact.

Maybe he only paid for a six month subscription and therefore cannot have complete access.

Why would HR manager want to get involved?

First of all, wc is mandatory coverage. The state requires every employer to cover every employee for on the job injury or illness. There is no option. Second, there is also mandatory coverage for disability (weekly income, not medical). Therefor…

I have a lot more questions than answers. 1. Why wasn't a claim filed with the wc carrier? 2. Is there a policy concerning leave of absence? 3. Are you subject to FMLA, ADA?

Having read all this, I have one thing to say "Thank heaven for menopause!!!" x:D

It must be nice to be in a position knowing that if you don't do your job well, you'll still live comfortably after your termination.

For $21.1 million, I would respect anybody's decision (well, almost everybody).

There is always a potential problem when a policy is not uniformly applied. If you give advance notice, there is no reason why you can't change the policy. However, if your company doesn't adhere to it (and I have found that different dept. heads …

I agree with the others. The "truth" often has nothing to do with facts.

Of course, any rules must exempt coming to this web site. After all, everything we discuss here is essential to the job. :~~

>Why is that important? > > The correct answer to question is "There is no point conducting an investigation unless you intend to get all facts." The purpose of an investigation is not support one side or another, it is not to get someone…

I agree. No excuse is allowed. But let's take two different scenarios.. a. After the first time, she turned to him and said, "don't ever do this again." or b. After the first time, she turned her head, smiled at him and shook her tush. (Of course, s…
