I agree with Frank. I'd pay the standard amount for mileage reimbursement for any miles above their normal commute to/from work. Otherwise, you may end up with other ees wanting to get paid for their drive to/from work too. Sharon

I think more information is needed. For example, was he/she suspended because of an alleged crime committed against the company or was it a crime against a non-related third party? Can you provide a little more information? Sharon

I'm reading Cathy Lamb's books. She has three so far, all set in Oregon. The first, Julia's Chocolates, was a great read. The second, The Last Time I Was Me, was a great read. I'm now in the middle of Henry's Sisters which is al…

I would pay for the hours worked on the holiday and for the holiday as well. If working on the holiday throws an ee into OT for that week, then some or all of the hours actually worked on the holiday would be at time and a half. Added to that would …

The only legal guideline regarding applicants that I know of is for the internet applicant. If you don't already have one, I recommend that you establish a formal policy that specifically defines an applicant for your company, how applicants and res…

One of the things about this situation that is interesting to me is that she told her supervisor she's interviewing at another company. Most people don't do that unless they are such good friends with their supervisor they know he/she won't get mad …
Just makes me sad. People who do these things never make out in the end. Small stealing leads to big stealing and eventually you have to bear the burden. You can argue Bernie Madoff got away with it for years, but I wonder …

Nae, Congratulations! You are truly blessed. I'm so jealous. My one and only child is 25 and in no hurry to get married, become a mom, anything -- and I have a bad case of grand ma envy. Sharon

I've used ranking as a tool to help supervisors during the annual performance appraisal process. Having them rank the employees in their group first helps them to make sure that the performance scores they issue across their group are appropriate. …

Another suggestion is to deliver paychecks to supervisors for them to distribute directly to employees. Personally, I've never been comfortable with leaving employees' pay checks (or, pay stubs) in a mail sot or an untended location.
