Yeah, but Mr. Ed isn't technically a cartoon.
Very true. And, so sad. Alas, he would have made such a good cartoon character. (You scooted by that one pretty niftily.)
Even though this will not lead to permanent employement, a job description would be better than a contract? I was trying to avoid any implications of an employee.
Even Temporary positions can have a job description. Yo…
Smug, analytical, a love of history, and no pants. H-m-m-m, doesn't that description also fit Mr. Ed?

This may seem harsh but you do have the option of addressing this as a performance issue. FMLA allows an employee time off for medical reasons. It does not an employee to disrupt the work of other employees. Something to think about.

I think I would put that in a job description rather than in a contract. Otherwise, you may encounter problems down the road. Just a thought.

Ok, so if you could have an alter ego, who would he/she be most like? Stick to cartoon characters, please. Personally, I'd choose Bugs Bunny? Frank, of course, would have to be Yosemite Sam.

Or, you could make annoying noises and weird facial gestures while you're talking. That would drive 'em right on out of there. I know a guy who can teach you how to do that, too. Last I heard, he was unemployed, so he might be able to work you int…
Wouldn't it be easier if you just referred to Brad Forrister and Alan King as "Apprentice Moderators", or "Junior Moderators"? They are the only ones who aren't Super. And isn't it wild that you have TWO Sharon McKnights? …
The wainscotting is pine. I am not a fan of painted wood in general. I love my office. All it is missing is a trapdoor for people who stay in it too long. I've asked for this feature but our maintenance departm…
My paneling is lovely thank you very much (arms crossed, lips pursed).
The paneling in your office is not particularly ugly, it's just that it might look better if it were painted instead of stained. For …

Both pretty much. Started out on the paneling in your office and ended up on a tangent triggered by Linda's comment about California HR horror stories.
As the employer, I would have determined that he had literally walked off the job, and therefore was no longer an employee. Take that, OSHA!
I'm guessing that the path that had a distinct "dragged out by the h…
Natural causes or foul play?
Definitely, foul play. Turns out a coworker had committed the crime, drug him out to the desert, then came back in to work as cool as a cucumber. Some nerves that guy has. I would haver b…

Who says anyone has to go? By the way, does anyone know if that baseball player, I think it was Ted Williams, maybe, is still in the freezer?

Nice beaded board. Have you thought about painting it instead of the stained look? Could jazz up your office.

I don't think that all positions should require a high school diploma, or even a high school education. However, we've all gotten used to requiring them anyway. I'd start with job descriptions for the positions that you think shouldn't require one…
