Maybe I should request a PRIVATE room to check my blood pressure and pulse rate on their little machine while I'm waiting for a prescription to be filled. Heaven forbid that Billy Jo Bob see my systolic number!

Welcome back!!! The forum even kept up with your # of posts so no one will be able to over take you.

AMEN Paul

Please pass along our congrats! I'm sure that Christy can't wait to get the little one home so they can read the Forum together. What an excellent educational tool for a young mind.

Well, I'm not going to give up my day job to become a bookie. I did not do a very good job except that watching KY just made me believe that much more that they can go all the way. Congrats to all of you Big 12 fans and condolences to you Don D. B…

Don D I'm sure you know this but other than their losses, the closest games Ky has had have been with MSU. It would be great to see Austin matched up with Bogans or Estill one more time.

UPDATE: As of 2:00 CST you can move Marquette, Gonzaga and Cal over to the next bracket.

Well, sort of. My son is a CPA and one of his clients is a major sponsor so he got (I asked no questions) tickets. I helped finance his education so I guess in a round about way I have "purchased" the tickets.

I am fortunate enough to have tickets to watch the next NCAA champions play here in Nashville tomorrow. That would be the Big Blue Wildcats from KY. There is an excellent chance that there may be 3 SEC teams in the final 4, KY MSU and FL. I love …

Just one of the small perks for being a subscriber to the Tennessee Employment Law Letter, such an invaluable tool. Great article in the Feb. edition on FMLA. Christy you may send me my check for the plug!!!

Went to college on a baseball scholorship and had high hopes of making it to the big leagues. NOT!! Injuries shortened my career. Dropped out of school, got married, worked as a dept mgr for a grocery chain. After 11 years went back to school and…

The mask is still sacred. The hot tub scene was prior to the mask being put on and it turned out to be only a "vision"

I think my parents still have my old Moped in the barn.

Life is like a box of chocolates.

I am one of the "GUESTS" that Don has blasted over the last few months. We are an Employment Law Letter subscriber but had just not taken the leap to register on the Forum. Don't really know how old Don is, but what is really scary is that I hav…

Mark, I've had those exact words typed 3 times to post and didn't have the nerve!!! Cudos to you.

In my opinion, you should never have a copy of an EEs SS card anywhere but with the I-9 in a separate file. Same with a DL other than, if an EE is driving for you and falls under the DOT regulations, you are required to have a copy of their DL on f…

No questions but plenty of answers: Not paid enough, health insurance premiums too high, not enough vacation time, need more holidays, need shorter work days/weeks...... Really now, what are you going to do with the results of this kind of survey?…

Any form / database / record keeping device that you would come up with is only as good as the person inputing the data. A handwritten note would serve just as well. In my experience, if you want some "inflated, exaggerated" numbers to throw out t…

You got some good responses to your other post in the Employment Law section a few days ago. Check those out.

Don is correct. However in addition to his thoughts, why would you offer and give a benefit such as sick leave or comp time or.... and then "penalize" or reprimand an EE for using it with a downgrade of a performance rating? Forget any legal issue…
-
The only addition that we have is we specifically state what and only what we will give the requestor. We do not get into attendance or performance rhetoric. Only dates, position and wages.

Maybe the "People" manager must be dysfunctional!

You will probably have varied responses to this question, but, IMHO (and more years experience than I want to admit) exit interviews are absolutely useless and consume valuable time that could be used for more constructive things regardless of who c…

>Who has good information/documents/experience to >share from soup to nuts. Sorry don't have a AAP, but as far as the soup and nuts, check out the HR Sandwich and Other Culinary Delights section. Great soup recipes.

Since our vacation is based on a calendar year, we allow all time-off requests to be purged Feb. 1, 1 month after the end of the "benefit year". If you have anniversary date or some other means of accruring Time-off, I think the 13 month period wou…

Sonny and Jimbo gave excellent advice. If you decide to include such verbiage, although I can't understand why someone would, be sure to check your state laws concerning payment of "accrued" time.

Thankfully we do not give out letters and only reply to written requests with the EE or former EE's authorization to release info. I had a professor pass this along about writing reference or recommendation letters: I cannot recommend this former …

We allow 4 weeks of unpaid personal leave in a "rolling" 12 month period provided that: The EE does not qualify for any other leave type such as FMLA, Breavement.... and That the EE is not on any type of written disciplinary warning. We do also…

Also check your state laws. Some states have more liberal requirements than FMLA.
