Check your state provisions. In TN an EE has up to 4 months Maternity Leave. The first 12 weeks would run concurrently with FMLA but there is an additional 4 weeks entitlement.

We have an EE roster posted at every emergency exit and we have specific gathering areas for all departments. We run 7-24 with 4 shifts / 3 depts. The roster is broken down by shift and the first person out the door grabs the roster and roll is cal…

The only time we do is when we require a supervisor to work an extra shift to fill in for a vacation. We then give a flat $$ amount as a "bonus" for the extra shift. Tell your engineer that there is a HR MGR. in Tennessee that spends a whole lot …

I've had boats with either an outboard or inboard motor but not an onboard!!!

I have never heard of it. There has always been a coordination of benefits clause in any plan that I have had or been a part of. In prior times I have been on both my plan and my wife's and we currently have EEs that are on their spouse's plan.

Look on the 3rd page of the new I-9 form under Section 2 - Employer. Step 5 states that the employee must present original documents and that the employer may, but are not required to, photocopy the documents presented. These photocopies may only b…

Same here. We do not have DOT positions but do have a zero tolerance policy for positive drug or alcohol tests.

>This coming Wednesday, we are having an >all-company meeting that will lay out the path >of the company for the next couple of years. If I were an EE and got the above notice without any other explanation, I would definitely feel …

Ditto!!

I think you have really answered your own question. If you do not allow PTO to be used and this EE has stated that 08/05 will be their last day, then 08/05 is their last day. While I am very pro-employee and try to see that they are treated fairly…

Our quality mgr advised that there are numerous packages available on the web but.... In his opinion, there is not a "canned" product that can be as effective or indepth as necessary to fulfill the requirements of UL.

Your profile is disabled so we can't tell where you might stand in the pecking order of your company so these comments are general in nature and not directed at you. You indicated in your post that you are a "small" manufacturer but then state that…

I agree with the gentleman from MS. We just went through a similiar situation. We had an EE that exhausted all available leave time and played out the discipline with our attendance policy. The only time we will re-hire (have a written policy fo…

I understand and agree with your thoughts on this, however, it seems that almost every Human Services dept. in the state give the forms to their clients. With the big uproar over our state health insurance, I bet we have had 40-50 hand-delivered re…

We had one looooong-term EE that hand delivered such a request to our payroll dept. stating that he needed to present it the next day to his case worker. They filled it out and gave it back to him. I get a call 3-4 days later inquiring about the "p…

I've been telling everyone that it was because of poor advice that I got from what turned out to be an unreliable source in Madison.

When I was back home on the farm in Indiana, I used to slop the hogs, mix tankage, minerals and vitamins with it. I use to give shots, clean the farrowing house and have even bottle fed some Hampshire and a few Duroc piglets. Does that qualify?????…

Maybe you need to send your GM for a drug test!!!!

Ditto to making the call. However, have you considered that this individual may have found a better paying job for the summer? Just a thought!

I also feel that surely if someone is "eligible" to be a participant on this forum, they must be a consenting adult and have the capability to tune out, turn off or move on, just as they would a channel on their television. I personally enjoy the r…

What type "forms" are you referring to? Is this from the entity at which you are volunteering or for your company? I've been associated with several local companies (through my family, friends and peers) that volunteer on a regular basis. I have …

We offer all EEs 4 weeks of unpaid Personal Leave in any "rolling 12-month" period providing they are not on any disciplinary writeup and provided the reason for the leave is not FMLA qualifying. We do require that the leave be taken in no less than…

Denise gave you the only viable solution, have her set up a savings account and if your set up to, do a payroll deduction to that account each payday. She would then have that available during the 3 months you are not in service.

Same here but have both the sup. and the EE initial the time card. If it gets to be habitual, we will go through our disciplinary steps of verbal, written.........

What do you think are 2 of your weaknesses in the workplace and why? Everyone is prepared to tell you "bang, bang, bang", what their strengths are, but weaknesses catches them every time. I just lean back, laugh inside and wait for a response.

>Executive onboarding specifically refers to the process of assimilating new executives into >company culture, setting expectations, etc. >>-Individual assessment - expectations, success factors, "derailers" and >corporate cult…

I guess I'm getting ready to either show my age or my ignorance, but exactly what is "onboarding"? I'm taking it to mean how soon an exec can get benefits or pay raises or....... Been there and done that several times but if you would be so kind as…

Do you have a written policy concerning being impaired at work either with drugs or alcohol? If so, then you need to follow your policy. If not, you do need to get one written. Minus a policy, if the type of work this individual is performing wou…

From a legal standpoint, yes, you can terminate but MUST offer Cobra at no more than a 102% premium charge. Most of our service men and women have found that the Government Insurance is much cheaper and has similiar coverage and that has been the w…

I think it all boils down to Party #3 is jealous because the supervisor is directing all of their attention to Party #2 and not Party #3.
