I appreciate everyone's responses! I just checked verbiage on his job description and that doesn't help much either. Under Special Requirements, it says, "Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license is required at time of appointment." My und…

We do (local government). After a couple of individuals were off work for over a year, but still on the payroll with employer-paid health insurance, etc., we decided to do this.

There are some free downloads and free typing tests on-line that might fit your needs.

I'd be happy to email our test if you want to post your address. Terry

Never mind...I deleted it. Your silence speaks volumes ; )

Michelle, if you want to post your email address I'll send you our template. My server's security is so tight I may not be able to receive your email until you click "Reply" to an email I send you. Terry Bostwick

We use Pre-Paid Legal Service, which offers ID Theft training and restoration. They contact you via email when there is an inquiry on your credit report. So far, I think everyone is happy with the service...they'll help with your will, review cont…

Thanks! Does local government qualify as a customer service organization? x:D

Thanks Paul! On your recommendation, I purchased Start Right...Stay Right. I viewed it last night and found it to be excellent...in fact, I found a few things I could do better myself (sheepish grin emoticon). Thanks again! Terry

I've never heard of noting on the posting that a candidate has potentially been identified, but I see several of you do that. Please explain....

We use the Basic Pilot system. So far all our employee's SSNs have matched the name in the database. It's easy to use and is comforting to know they're legit.

Ritaanz...you're hired!!! Thanks Paul! Do you charge a finder's fee? And ACU Frank, thanks for the LOL re: flying pigs, first thing on a Tuesday morning. Seriously though, I sincerely appreciate everyone's input. I hadn't even considered discuss…

Yes, she's been smart enough to stay out of any real trouble. What does Ritaanz do?

I agree whole-heartedly with the above posts. Whatever happened to common sense and good ol' manners? But this is more sinister than bad manners. The person we're dealing with is wiley and covert. She's careful not to attack her co-workers when…

We have an Illegal Harassment policy, but that only covers protected classes. We're working on updates because of a few long-term employees who have gotten away with bullying co-workers or subordinates that aren't in protected classes. It's more o…

Thanks! I'll email you.

They have a Green Card AND a SS card? Can you verify the validity of the SS# on the US Citizenship and Immigration website www.vis-dhs.com ?

This is referring to email, but hope it helps... 2.16.4. Prohibited Use Prohibited use includes, but is not limited to, the following: 6. Engaging in political activities including, but not limited to, solicitation or fund raising.

Good suggestion, Paul. I was thinking of 99 cent earplugs (Big Smile Emoticon...since I don't know how to insert).

About a year ago we moved all personnel files to one location. There was some initial resistance but now it's second nature.

After I posted I tried the link, but it didn't take me where I was before. I just typed "ERISA deadlines" on my msn search engine and got several hits. Maybe that will work better for you.

As a public employer, we're required by NV Revised Statutes to pay annual leave, holiday pay and retirement on ee's who work over 19 hours a week on a regular basis. The only thing they don't get is sick leave and health insurance.
-
Ours is similar, although our Board generally grants an annual 3%-or-so Cost Of Living Allowance. Our union members negotiate a new pay scale every 4 years. And our earliest ees receive Longevity pay (1% per yr of svc, up to 10).

Would it help to tell him to use his "indoor voice"?
