With so much "belt tightening - expense control/reduction" we are doing good if we can go to local training programs. I imagine it will be a few years before we take any extended trips for these sorts of activities.

That's the way we do it.... Especially when stepping down in responsibility. We look at how many of years of experience the employee has and estimate what somone in his new postion would be making after the same amount of years.
