I've used this as an opener in sales training classes... it's shocking how many people don't get it.

Once I have documentation recommending any kind of medical leave, I require a release. No exceptions.

Who are you using? Verifications Inc. was so slow, maybe that's the main reason ADP looks good (and the price is less than half what Verifications Inc was charging). If there's somebody even better, I wouldn't mind taking a look at them.
-
Switching from Verifications Inc. to ADP saved us a ton of money, delivered better results, and cut our turnaround time in half. ADP is our "cradle-to-grave" HRIS, but their background check service is literally the ONLY part of their program that …

Some yes, some no.

In this case, Sonny, I think it should read "what is good for the gander is good for the goose". hahahaha I agree - this is a bad place to make a policy exception, and I don't often say that.

I am comforted by the fact that no one could really confuse me with He Who Shall Not Be Named.

Thanks Beth! You'll never know how close you were to posting one of the most ironic replies ever, though.

5 - 0 ? Bing - 0 ! Thanks Nae!

We used to call the operator to find out what time it was.

Where's the "Like" button when you really need it!

I recommend giving people a window to use the time - for example, they can schedule it up to 7 days before their actual birthday or up to 7 days after. For added peace of mind, at least think through the inevitability of having someone take their "…

Both my kids are education majors... I'm proud of them, and still strangely unsure whether I shouldn't be afraid for them instead.

Everyone here clocks in and out... Even the CEO. To take it a step further, at the end of the pay period all employees validate their time punches in the system, digitally sign their time cards, have their manager digitally sign their time cards, a…

JQH - Could you elaborate? I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you concerned that you might have some IT folks who are improperly classified?
-
That was an awesome response, PLHepner! I'm sorry I missed it when you posted it.

Carry-over is approved by the CEO, and only if dictated by business necessity.
-
I'm glad someone else said this, Sharon. I didn't want to be the bleeding heart, but I'd be screaming all the way into the CEO's office if I was asked to rescind this offer. It's not how you treat people - whether they've arrived for their first d…

FMLA would not be appropriate for an absence lasting only "a day or two".
-
So, are you asking if someone convicted of felony fraud against the federal government can be later hired to work for a federal agency?
-
When you say you're trying to save a buck or two, how much are you willing to spend now to save money a year or two down the road? What kind of break-even period do you need?
-
30 has been a fairly standard FT-PT cutoff for the insurers I've deal with over the years. I think that's probably why the ACA went with 30.

We have a non-retaliation clause in several policies - including our Whistleblower policy, of course.

David's answer is excellent from the employees' perspective... From an organizational perspective I would see a 'mass' notification as a lazy move by a manager who may also be afraid to handle difficult conversations one-on-one.

Group layoff announcement = Worst idea EVER

Just make sure you get a signed copy of his applicant's authorization.

I'm a fairly polite person who feels strongly about good phone manners, but... I have to admit, when the telemarketer starts with the pitch I just hang up. No "I'm not interested", no nothing. I just hang up.

Co-worker Relationships If you and members of your immediate family are employed by Alliance Credit Union, one may not supervise the other nor may they work in the same department. If the manager is unable to develop a workable solution, the…

You'll get my Facebook password when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

If you requisition one, just be aware that you will probably get an outdated model. Shortly after you receive yours, everyone else you work with will get the latest and greatest version without even asking. At least, that's how it usually works.
