Hello from southern CA

Dear HR experts,

This is Alex, I am currently working full time with Philips in Greater San Diego area for almost 3 years now. I am from another country on a work permit (H1B) which is expiring in June. It can be extended after that but the company has decided to not extend it. Its not a performance issue. They are saying its budget and headcount. So my question is...should I get for a severance package now? I can't find my offer letter and I don't remember if it had that clause but still I ask the experts here.

 Please suggest.

 Regards,

Alex

  • If your offer letter was one that had a line on it for you to sign if you accept the offer, then it is highly likely that the offer letter is in your employee file and that you have a right to copy it.  If nothing else, you have a right to inspect your employe file and, you should be able to find it there.
