Performance Reviews and Salary Increases

We want to separate the review process from the annual salary increase.  We are going to do reviews in June and hold salary increases until November.  Does anyone have experience with this process?  How did you communicate the change to employees?  Were there any unexpected issues that came up?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks.

  • We recently separated ours, but the wait time between the performance review and the salary meeting is 30 days or less (depending on when the perf review was actually conducted). It wasn't difficult to get employees to accept that the purposes of these meetings were separate.  We communicated the change in a company-wide memo and in departmental meetings.  But yours is definitely a bigger change--will you be explaining the reason for the 5 month gap?  If they are used to getting their raise in the same month (or meeting) as their appraisal, I could see where there might be confusion (or possibly unrest) if you don't make your reasoning clear.
