I'm not sure if I spelled that correctly! My great grandmother came from Serbia. She used to make a delicious bread called pitiza. She would make a dough and stretch it very thin. Then she would sprinkle finely chopped nuts and a little sugar on the dough and roll it up. Has anyone ever heard of a bread similar to hers?

That is from a google search. There's a pizata bread which may be what you are searching for. It's a Jewish bread typically made during Honukaa (sp).

My mother's family is Croatian - they spell it patica. My mother got one for Christmas and told none of her four daughters until it was GONE. This is an old family recipe I hope to snag off my aunt when she comes out to visit in March. We tried it once with her years ago and I remember her rolling out the dough the size of a large round kitchen table. Should I be successful I will share unless she swears me to secrecy. This stuff is delicious and wonderful with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Well actually I'm 1/2 Croatian, 1/2 Italian. It makes for an interesting temperment - and very diverse menus.

That must be my problem. English/Irish heritage, neither of which is known for its fine cuisine. No wonder I'm so fond of boiled potatoes. x;-)

Thanks to everyone...especially Leslie. My great grandmother used to stretch her dough on her round kitchen table. It sounds like your family recipe would be very similar to mine. Please share if you can! Oh, me and my used to make it, but to get the dough really thin we cranked it through a pasta machine! Thanks again.
