1st Annual Chilli Cookoff

Today, we're holding our 1st annual Chilli Cookoff at work. For the last two weeks, I've been sending out "Chilli Facts" every morning. We have several entries from our wonderful cooks, plus everyone brought in side dishes for a pot luck. We'll be holding raffles every hour from 10:00 until 2:00 and there's a grand prize for the best Chilli. We decorated our lunchroom in a Mexican theme, and gave out "Red Hots" and Mexican Jumping beans this morning. Some departments are in costume. Thank goodness it's turning out to be a blast..................

Very cool! We're actually having a chili cookoff here in October. You'll have to post and let us all know how it went!

What a cool idea. You should have let us SW Forumites know. We could have sent you some fresh Habaneros that would have made your chili kick a** in more ways than one!

Odd question, but where did you find the Mexican jumping beans? I haven't seen those since I was a kid!

The Mexican jumping bean is the only thing left in the human digestive tract after the habeneros do what they do so well to magically turn your other end into a Roman candle for two days. The only purpose for the Mexican jumping bean, therefore, is to irritate you while you recover from the chili with habeneros.

Just went on-line and there they were.......lots of fun for our employees. Not so much fun for me whan I had 200 boxes of beans jumping around in my office, the noise was explosive. As a matter of fact, our receptionist got a bit nervous and called our security offier to inspect the "Ticking" package that had been left for HR. She missed the huge print on the boxes that said Live Mexican Jumping Beans............

We've had a chili cook-off during the winter for several years. It's always fun. We give gift certificates to "Chili's" restaurants for prizes. The winner's name is engraved on a plaque on permanent (as permanent as anything in HR) display.

I may borrow some of your ideas too this year! The jumping beans sound like a riot!
