I got an e-mail from a friend warning against the dangers of credit theives. I'm not sure if this actually happened to someone but her word of caution was beware the person behind you in a store when you take out your credit card - he or she can easily snap a pic of your name and account number. I don't take mine out until I am ready to hand it to the cashier and if someone is too close to me in line I ask them to step back - I throw in a facial twitch so they agree its a good idea. x;-)

One more thing that makes our ever evolving technology a double edged sword...:-S

Rad: I think it actually DID happen . . . there was an article in our local newspaper a couple of weekends ago about this very thing. Kinda scary . . . made me take notice, even though I think I am careful when using my plastic!

Too much technology ain't a good thing!

If some stranger gets too close to me, I just turn around and give them my "what the hell are you doing?" look. They usually back off.

I agree with you Rockie. When some young, buxom blonde gets to pushing up against me in the checkout line, I expect her to move back immediately. I'll bet that look I give her is the same one you use! You betcha'. Can't stand pushy broads. x;-)

I too believe that it has happened. In fact our Security Officer ran a short article in bank's weekly news letter concerning this very matter. Also if you have employees that have access to confidential information such as bank account numbers, etc., they could also be taking pictues of the scree and sending it off site to someone else. Even warned that a customer with a picture phone could easily take a picture of the screen that you have showing on your PC that contained confidential information. Pointed out that those you are lucky enough to have a window and on the ground level must be careful as someone outside the building could take a picture of your PC screeen. Never a dull moment.

I was going to rant about the waste of talent and time and creativity that go into these kinds of scams, but it just makes me depressed about how niave I am. Then it reinforces my cynicism.

Other than that, I find that look that Don D talks about works in places besides the checkout counter line. I wish I could remember why it was important.
