Holiday pay

I need your help. I have an ee who works 36 hrs weekly but is considered full time.Every friday she works only 4 hrs. We closed the facility on friday the 9th, a pd 8 hrs holiday. Should she get paid for 8 hrs or just 4 hrs? We are in NC. I'll appreciate your help.

We would only pay her for four hours. FLSA does not require that you pay for holidays at all, but to be fair you should pay what they would have made if they had worked that day.

Same here. We pay holiday pay for the hours they would have worked had we been open. This can be for any amount of time depending upon their schedule for that particular day.

Same here. I think of it as if we were open, what would she been paid?
That is what we would owe her, if it is a "declared" company holiday and this person is eligible for the holiday pay benefit.

We would only pay for scheduled work hours so in your case it would be 4 hours.

If someone was not normally scheduled for that day (the holiday) then they would not be entitled to holiday pay at our facility.

Apparently we're very different than everyone else here. We would pay 6 hours.

But that's our policy. It states that 40 hour employees get 8 hours per holiday; 30-39 hour employees get 6; and 20-29 hour employees get 4. Doesn't matter if they would normally work 2 or 10 hours for that day.

We are the same as dbutton. . . we pay based on how many hours per week their position is budgeted to work. We pro-rate if they work 32 hours, 36 hours or 40 hours per week.

This does make it challenging to administer at times, but I'm told it will be this way.
