Do all employees have to complete a new W4 every year?

No. The only employees who have to complete a new W-4 are those who were filing exempt as of the end of 2005.

Actually, it is only the employee who wishes to change the information on his/her existing/original W-4 that need complete a new one. As long as the information on the employee's originally completed W-4 is still relevant. e.g., marital status, number of exemptions, etc. the employee need not complete a new one.

Conversely, an employee wishing to change the information on his/her W-4 may do so at any time during the year.

Wrong Geno. Anyone who claimed EXEMPT on a 2005 (or earlier) MUST update a 2006 form regardless if they have any changes.

On a side note, I have the latest 2006 Forms W-4 (English and Spanish version) available on my site's forms resource center.
