Union requesting information

Are there any limits to the information a union representative can request regarding other employees? I have had requests for performance reviews, attendance records, and medical restrictions just to name a few. I have gone to the NLRB website but haven't been able to locate specific information regarding what the union committee does, and does not, have access to.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • There are restrictions. Generally, the union is entitled to information that is necessary and relevant for them to perform their obligation to barain for and represent the unit employees. The information that you listed is normally necessary and relevant.

    I suggest that you consult with a labor attorney for strategies on how to respond to these requests.
