Interviewing for a current employees position

We have an employee whom we will be terminating soon and we are currently interviewing for his replacement. My question is, how do we address this during the interview, should we say that someone is currently in the position and will be terminated or do we not address the issue at all? This is a first for me so I want to make sure we handle this properly.

There's no good reason to mention it, and there are a lot of good reasons not to mention it.
