Leaving out your previous job you work at before

Back in 2008, I work as a College Security Officer for only 2 months and
I was ask to voluntarily resign so that they would not have to fire me. This is a government job by the way.

So the real questions I want answers to is this:

If I applied for other government jobs and I completely leave out that I
was ever hired as a College Security Officer, will other future general
government places that I apply for even know? Will they find out? If
they do, how would they find out even I never tell them?

Ok what about if I apply for a private sector job, and I completely
leave out that I was employed as College Security Officer? Will other
general future private sector places that I apply for even know? Will
they find out? If they do, how would they find out even I never tell
them?

  • Most applications have some type of statement that omissions found later can be considered falsifications and a reason to terminate employment.

I don't have my crystal ball today, it's in the shop, so I can't tell you whether govt or private could possibly find out that you had that job. Depends a bit on how deep of a security/background check is.  I would think you would have a harder time concealing it if you are applying within the same industry or the same area. Plus you never know who knows who and when your name might come up in a conversation.

What employment have you had since? Often times, applications only ask for the last x years or last x jobs.  But I am of the opinion that it is better to be truthful and upfront than to lie/omit.
