Terminology for people who have trouble hearing

We have been using the term "hearing impaired" in our company to denote people who have trouble hearing.
Now I just saw on the Twitter feed that Marlee Matlin has said:
So many have asked me; here it is. "Deaf" or "hard of hearing" works. The term "hearing impaired" is out of date. And no one uses "mute" or "dumb."

Ask most people who can't hear and I'll bet they'll say "deaf" or "hard of hearing" works. For me "deaf" works fine.
What term is now considered correct? What term are you using?
