Vacation Accrual

My company has awarded vacation time on January 1st of each year.  We are switching to awarding vacation time to the anniversary of the employees' hire date.  For those of you that have dealt with this, what problems or concerns did this change create for your organization and how did you resolve them?

    The hardest part is getting your employees to understand the pro rated benefit under the new system.  The simpler the math, the simpler the changeover.  Awarding on January of 2011, pro-rated until their anniversary date, and then awarded again on their anniversary date, less the amount already earned, would be one way to do it and keep it simple.
