ban workplace fish tanks?

Just read an article that fish tanks harbor a lot of contaminants.  A lot of cubicles here have Beta tanks--and we have a lot of workers with allergies.

 Is this really something to be concerned about?

 We could remind people who have tanks to wash their hands after touching/cleaning them.
