applicants with study abroad experience

Just read a blog that recruiters find students who have studied abroad can't articulate how the experience makes them a better candidate and how they could apply this experience to the job they are seeking.  Only time this has come up for me was for jobs requiring fluent Spanish skills, so candidates' study abroad was relevant.  Anyone have any thoughts?

    Jobs that require travel abroad would be the most likely to benefit the most from a candidate that has studied outside the US.  Companies with a large portion of international customers would be able to utilize experiences a candidate may have by learning different cultures while they were studying. Also knowing the specific needs of the customers based on the personal experiences of living in that environment would be very beneficial as well.
