Jury Duty

We currently have a policy in place paying folks for jury duty (amount of time not specified). However, we'd like to change that going forward to reflect a certain amount of time we'd compensate them. (We're a small colorado based company and someone out on an extended leave for jury duty would have a huge impact on the business). Is this ok to do?
thx

You don't have to pay non-exempt people for jury duty under federal law. State laws vary and only a few require pay. Some states also require that you allow employees time off to perform as witnesses in a trial.
However, exempt employees must be paid for a full week if they do any work in that week and the time not worked that was regularly scheduled was spent on jury duty. That is, "jury duty" is not absence due to personal personal reasons other than sickness for determining salary pay requirements. However, if an exempt employee performs no work for a full week, they don't have to be paid.
Here is a website for this information.
