Exempt or Non-Exempt

I am having some troubles deciding if our Marketing Communication Coordinator with a Graphics Art degree should be exempt or non-exempt.
He is currently paid salary. Recently we started reviewing positions within the company to be sure they are classified correctly. This employee coordinates all our Trade Shows along wtih designing company business cards/letterhead, etc. Occassionally he works overtime when traveling to Trade Shows. Any advice? |

The very mention that this person sometimes works "overtime" makes it sound like you already think of them as an hourly employee.
Exempt employees work "long hours," and non-exempt employees work "overtime". After all, what are exempt employees exempt from? Overtime and minimum wage provisions of the FLSA. Of course, there's a minimum salary requirement, so it's not exactly true that exempt people are exempt from the minimum wage.
