Accrued Sick Pay in Nebraska

The current policy is to allow 40 hours of paid sick time per year.  Unused sick time can be carried over and accumulated up to 280 hours. At termination, any unused vacation is paid but not unused or accrued sick time.  Is this proper in Nebraska?

If switching to a PTO plan, how do you handle situations where an employee has accrued sick time?  Does it just disappear?  I seem to recall that there was a case or, possibly, an actual law passed in Nebraska a couple of years ago but I cannot find anything on it.

Any help will be appreciated.
