Do you get BLR's Strange but True e-newsletter?  It's free and has lots of stories like this.  I don't think the editors take the stories off of blogs though. They usually have a link to a newspaper or magazine article, press release, or website.  The editors sometimes ask for contributions of stories from readers.

Mostly true, can really mean anything...so I don't think this really can be true. But definitely a reason to make all managers do reference checks!!!
