MRSA

OK - at the risk of sounding paranoid, I was wondering if MRSA (resistant staph) can be transmitted on office equipment, such as computer keyboards, conference tables, etc. We have employe who has come down with MRSA, and he has touched practically everything in the office. We are wondering what we should do/whether to disinfect all surfaces. Anyone else have this happen? What did you do?

Yes, a problem that first came up in healthcare facilities is disinfecting keyboards on electronic equipment. However, the main line of defense is handwashing and sanitation.
Place pump bottles of hand sanitizer throughout your office. Place a trash receptacle outside restroom doors so after people wash their hands, they can open the door with the paper towel they have dried their hands in and then toss it into the wastebasket.
Here is a good website for more information on preventing MRSA through hand hygiene
