Do most employers use personality tests in hiring now? They seem invasive, but probably useful, to me. Should it be a required part of the application process?
We give every applicant a personality profile test - though it is not required. We find that it really assists us in determining whether applicants will be a good fit for a certain job, and whether they would be happy. We don't place an enormous amount of importance on it, but it is one factor that gives us insight into the applicant - and tells us some things that we wouldn't be able to tell from an interview. For example if someone is a good fit for a research position vs a sales position - each requiring very different skills, styles, likes and dislikes.
