Anyone know a good resource for researching workplace violence laws/rules? I have noticed a lot of states passing laws that help employers control violence in the workplace (i.e., concealed weapons, domestic violence restraining orders, etc.) We operate facilities in multiple states and want to stay on top of these new laws.

Hi - try http://www.legalmomentum.org/issues/vio/policies.pdf - it is a summary of state laws at the time of publication. I am sure some new/different laws have come on the scene, but it is a good start.

With all of the recent incidents of workplace violence, we are worried that there may be a tidal wave effect. We do hire individuals who are not gentle, or very aware of how to interact with coworkers without conflict. We have done some training on conflict resolution, and posted our workplace violence policy, but we are afraid that with the personalities in our workplace, it is only a matter of time.
