President's Proposed Health Care Reforms

After listening to the President's State of the Union speech last night, I'm wondering...if his reforms go through, will they lessen the burden on employers to provide or pay for healthcare?

  • There are definitely incentives for employees to choose cheaper health plans, so employers could benefit. Like with health savings accounts, though, Bush's plan may have other consequences. For example, what happens to the risk pool for traditional plans if more young, healthy workers go running to high-deductible health plans to get the most out of their tax deduction?
