Paying an injured employee, PTO?

If an employee is injured at work and the doctor gives them a note that says they don't have to return for several days, does the employee have to use their Personal Days or is the business responsible for paying those days? This claim wasn't under Worker's Comp, the business just paid for the doctors visit.

Beyond that to the question. . .depends on your policy. We pay the waiting period, but some places require ee to use sick/vacation time.
If it was w/c, however, some states have waiting periods before the wages are covered by w/c. Example, Mississippi has a five-day waiting period before w/c will start paying for wages. If the person is out more than 14 days, it will retroactively pick up the first week. Otherwise, the employee would need to use PTO, sick, etc to cover the hours.
You can offer them the option of using PTO if they would like, but you cannot require them to use it.
