Health Care Reform Reporting Requirements

I was looking to find out what the reporting requirements are on the W2's when it comes to the health care reform. Any information will be helpful. Thank you.

• Starting in the 2011 tax year, employers will have to annually report the value of employer-provided health benefits on employees’ Form W-2s. The value is to be determined under rules similar to the COBRA rules, and the first W-2 that must contain this information is the one that must be sent no later than January 31, 2012 (for the 2011 tax year). Regulations that address W-2 reporting have not been issued yet.

• Britany: This website has a pretty good overview of the health care reform law in a white paper. It is an overview, and Jessica told you as much in her post as the white paper does about the 2011 W2 requirements, however, I found the information helpful and easy to understand. The white paper is called "A Guide to Obama's Health Care Reform" and was issued last month.
• Nae,
Thank you for pointing out the white paper!
Here is a link: http://www.hrhero.com/whitepapers/index.cgi?wphcr

The white paper is completely free, all we need is your e-mail. (If you've already signed up for a white paper before or have registered your e-mail with us somewhere else, it shouldn't ask for your e-mail. But if it does, just enter it again.)

Let me know if you have any questions about downloading the white paper or anything in it!
