A copy of "Management Courage: Having the Heart of A Lion" showed up in my box today. No note or inscription. It just appeared.

I opened it up and saw that Margaret Morford is the author.

I haven't read it yet but it looks very interesting. Maybe Margaret was in the area...

I LOVE Margaret Morford. I tried so hard to win one of her books when she was here in September. Have you seen her talk on having the heart of a lion? It's great. She really knows how to give you insights while making it fun and memorable.

Tony Kessler at M. Lee Smith Publishers sent me a link to your message asking if I was in Oregon. I am currently snowed in my office in Nashville so I am not the Management Book Fairy, but it is not a bad marketing idea! That is the first book I wrote. It has been out for about three years. My second book is finished and will probably be published second quarter of this year - That should give you enough time to read the first one as it is only 96 pages and has no big words!

In all seriousness, this looks like a great book if only because you use the phrase "soul-sucking" in one of your chapter headings.

I went ahead and personalized my book with what I think Margaret would have written if she had the chance.

Read Margaret's book last night. It's not a long read, especially if you don't have any distractions. Her no-excuses approach lays out the bald facts and makes you think. I enjoyed it, though I had heard some of it before at one of her seminars (I've seen her speak several times.) In fact, I must admit that I read it while hearing her Tennesee accent and could picture her in some of the stories. It was not as great as seeing her in person, and the humor was less obvious, but I enjoyed it.

PLUS, my copy is autographed to me. Na-na-na-na-na. ::pb&J::

So I am reading Margaret's book Management Courage and its very good. She BBQs a lot of sacred cows like "treating all employees the same" or hiding behind policies. Good stuff, Margaret.

I won't share the name of the HR book I'm reading right now, as I think it is horrible, and I'd hate to offend any of you that love it...but MLS, I'd be happy to write a review for you!

On another note, I attended a webinar yesterday, and the gentlemen who presented referred to himself as a "Recovering HR Director." I must say I was a little miffed, as though "HR Director" was on the same level as "Addict," or "Alcoholic." Wait....then again....
