Dear Santa,

I have been a very good human resources professional this year. I know you are very busy up there at the North Pole getting ready for the big day. I heard the elves filed a class action lawsuit that got tangled up for a long time in the courts. I hope the settlement will not dent your budget for Christmas this year.

Many of my colleagues in HR have had to deal with reductions in force in 2008 and 2009. Have you been able to avoid that during this bad economy? If so, did you have to use a hiring freeze or furloughs to manage your elf wage and benefit costs?

I think that some of my HR friends will have questions for you as well. I hope they will add them to this forum thread.

All I want for Christmas this year is . . .

...a new assistant so I no longer have to do all the jobs in the department, and a big fat raise for having spent most of the last year doing all the jobs in the department!

I quit overthinking the gift thing after that one Christmas when I sold my hair to buy my wife a new fob for her pocketwatch. I'm sure you know how that ended up.

So I guess I'll second Paul's wish for the gold bicycle. Although it's tough pedaling, with those metal tires and all.
